I’ve got a variety of shit for you to listen to and/or download today. Lots of good stuff here so enjoy and please remember to vote for STRIVIN’ in the Best Music Blog contest (click the graphic in the left column).

New mixtape (mixed by DJ Destro) from Young Rebz out of Richmond, CA. Rebz, along with Taj-He-Spitz (who is featured on the mixtape), is a good representative of the next generation coming up in the Bay Area. (myspace)

“We Want In” w/ Stormey
“God’z Plan (Remix)” w/ Young Buck
Solid track from a new artist to me, A. Pinks from Queens, NY. I like what I hear so hopefully I’ll have some more tracks from him soon. (website)

Los Angeles rapper Aceyalone dropped a very dancehall inspired new album, Lightning Strikes, last month. I’m a little late getting to posting anything on it, but hey, promotion is promotion even if it is a little tardy. (website)
“Eazy” w/ Chali 2Na
“Shango”
I had to throw in some R&B/soul to mix it up a little bit. Take your mean mug off, there’s nothing wrong with relaxing every once in a while. Nyasha Shani contacted me recently and sent me a few snippets from her upcoming project. I’m hoping to have some full-length tracks to post soon, but in the meantime, the snippet below was my favorite. She has great potential I think. Also, be sure to visit her myspace link for more music and to read her bio. (myspace)

Comment by r8r November 15, 2007 @ 4:02 pmAcey the Faceman is an absolute genius, but he is faced with the unique problem of having everything he does constantly compared to some absolute CLASSIC albums. “All Balls Don’t Bounce” was amazing, but “A Book of Human Language” with producer Mumbles will go down in history as one of the best hip-hop albums ever. That album from start to finish is a work of inspired genius. As much as I like what I hear from him, I’m always waiting for him to come out with something to rival that album, and I don’t think it will ever happen.
I’m not even going to go into his albums with Freestyle Fellowship, because I’ll be here all night. They did a song called “When the Sun took a Day Off and the Moon Stood Still” which sends shivers down my spine every time I hear it.
Thanks for the heads up though, I’ll definitely check out the new album.
