Welcome to WEEK 2 of A. Pinks’ “Will Rap 4 Food” DJ Series. For this sophomore segment I decided to bring the listener a little closer to home. This being the beginning of my re-introduction to the world, I felt it was necessary to take it to the grass-roots of my musical upbringing — to let yall know exactly where I’m coming from…JumpStreet. In such close quarters to Queens greats such as Nasir Jones himself (ask him about me), I not only have an obligation to pay homage to history but also to present you with the future. To do so, I’ve made my own rendition of Nas’ newest single “Hero.”

Butta Verses, a Bronx-bred rapper who now calls Fort Lauderdale, Florida home made his debut appearance on De La Soul’s 2004 release The Grind Date. Butta’s name was bestowed upon him by fellow MCs at local ciphers but once his mixtape reached the ears of DJ Maseo from De La Soul, his rhymes started reaching neighborhoods around the world. Maseo signed Butta to his label and he began touring with De La Soul to promote The Grind Date. Butta went on to release several mixtapes while playing over 200 shows on De La Soul’s international tours and began recording with his crew GCD (Glee Club Detention) as well as Seattle’s Vitamin D and Bean One for his debut album “Brand Spankin”.
Today, Butta is wrapping up his follow-up album, “Reality BV” (Culture Kings Music | Domination Recordings) featuring the underground smash hits “If I Die” and “Speech Therapy” featuring A-Butta of Natural Elements plus production from The Mighty V.I.C., Marco Polo, Bean One and Tzarizm among others. Expect much more from this rising star in 2008!
